Come Clean 02:34
You painted me green as if I wore false jealousy Now I can't erase or rinse these colors clean of me You wore me the best but now I carry the weight My inaction a rock between both shoulder blades I gave the best of me I'm wide awake, stained and painted green Ascetic draped in vanity Your trial, your court, come clean You painted me green as if I wore false jealousy (on my sleeve) Now I can't erase or rinse these colors clean of me I want to see you feel I want it to hurt
2.
Spent so long erasing your own mistakes The paper thins, the fibers break You forgave just to breathe, sold your pride just to cease the weight To start over again and find that things are the same They will never let you be you again You etched a new face within the mirror frame The reflection speaks back but never knows your name Can you live this way? Do you have the strength? To stray from misguidance with a new trail to blaze? They will be sorry when you are you again Unwilled you faltered, return undaunted This is my second chance, I made it just for me Not for anyone else Paved my own path, covered my tracks Hated myself just to make a life again Cut by the mirror face, as the new you bleeds the old you breathes again
3.
Can you smell the roses? They've only grown at your feet for so long Your negligence is an act of privilege from time itself You stand alone It never mattered what choices that you made I was always there, a soft place for you to land It might be hard to swallow It may be harder to look at me A figure from your shadow Everything that you could be It might be hard to shovel All of the lies you told yourself Off of your own casket Your grave the size of a mountain It might be hard to hold Yourself accountable at least As well as my memory serves You're not who you used to be When the days get long they become nights Your love is never as strong than when you're out of time If we're arm in arm then we're eye to eye Two lives apart, two of a kind
